British Museum Launches Audio Descriptive Guide

A guide to help blind or partially sighted visitors, developed by Imagineear is now available free of charge for visitors to the British Museum.

The guide contains detailed description of objects along with curators’ commentaries.

It is available on Imagineear’s MediaPacker™ device. A raised dot on the numeric 5 key on player’s keypad is placed so that the visitor’s thumb is given an easy touch reference to help with orientation.

“We’ve had experience of putting together this type of tour before so we are delighted to be working with the British Museum,” says Clare Cooper-Hammond, MD of Imagineear. “Apart from our expertise in shaping content for people with visual impairment, our mediaPacker™ with its well-spaced keypad, boxy design, clear screen and bright colour is well suited for this use.”
