Kennedy Space Center

The most advanced mobile visitor site in the US right now is the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida.

Challenge

An exciting and holistic visitor experience in multiple languages, working seamlessly indoors, outdoors and on the buses between sites was required for this multi-faceted and complicated complex.  The centre includes a US military base with partial visitor access some of the time, and it is operated by a private company on behalf of NASA, which oversees the whole area.  Additional challenges included contiguous auto-triggered multilingual syncing to video, bright Florida sunlight outdoors, and the length and variable routing of the buses between the Visitor Complex and the Apollo Saturn V Center. In addition, the tight time scale included making provision for the immersive Heroes and Legends experience, opening in a dedicated building on site.

Solution

Several companies including Imagineear collaborated closely with NASA, Delaware North and an independent project manager, to develop and then implement the components of the tour as a unique experience.  Niche speciality experience in delivering visitor experiences and the right technology were both key to Imagineear’s contribution.

What We Are Proud Of

Imagineear’s MPti™ touch-screen devices with 5” screens were chosen to host the engaging visitor experience which includes a fully integrated technical media package.  Augmented reality, 360º photography, interactive games, maps, wayfinding, multi-lingual network syncing, location-based triggering, social media and push notifications are presented in eight languages, both at the two Space Center sites and on the tour buses that transport visitors between them.
