Neonatal Palliative Care Guidelines

Neonatal Palliative Care is an area of medicine where a clear set of principles can underpin the care that staff provide to babies with life-limiting conditions, and helps to equip them to support families through a very challenging time.

What We Are Proud Of

This guidance app has been developed with members of the multidisciplinary neonatal team at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, in collaboration with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health – through Lead Nurse for Palliative & Complex Care at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Alex Mancini, who is also Pan London Lead Nurse for Neonatal Palliative Care. Practical aspects of infant care are covered, and include pain and symptom relief; comfort and dignity and the management of prognostic uncertainties. The app also provides support to families during their baby’s illness and after death as well as a database of national and tailored local contacts.
