Grammy Museum’s British Invasion exhibition comes to Liverpool
The 1960s saw bands from Britain dominating America’s music scene. The GRAMMY Museum has created an exhibition dedicated to this which will be installed at the decade’s spiritual home of music, Liverpool. The British Invasion: How 1960s beat groups conquered America is welcoming visitors at the Beatles Story’s Pierhead venue in the famous Albert Dock. Visitors will explore music, interviews and rare original objects, all accompanied by imagineear’s MediaPacker™.
The exhibition is divided into different themes: Roots and influences of The GRAMMY Awards; The 1964 music invasion: The Mersey sound; and The sound of London and taking America by storm. Each of these areas is filled with rare objects such as playlists and original merchandise, but it is the videos of interviews and gigs, along with the music played throughout, which vividly brings the story of the sounds of the ’60s to life.
Fans are given an Imagineear MediaPacker™ to navigate the exciting space and find out even more about each of the themes. So that visitors do not miss out on parts of the exhibition, the audioguide is programmed to synchronise with any videos which are playing. This means that visitors can simply enter a number into the device and it will start playing the audio from the video, automatically knowing the point which the video is at.
The exhibition follows on from the successful Elvis and Us, which explored the Beatles’ relationship with Elvis and was created by Graceland.
