Imagineear Races to the Finish at Newmarket
Newly added tour productions, created by Imagineear for Newmarket’s National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art, were in place in good time for Easter visitors to this new multi-faceted site.
Opened by HM The Queen last Autumn, the Centre includes adult and children’s multimedia guides to help visitors understand the science and art of the ancient royal sport of horseracing.
Imagineear has provided the hand-held MPti™ devices and created the tours from script to post production. Point your MPti™ camera at former racehorses to trigger video of their moments of triumph.
Tours for the second and final phase of this Centre, opened by HM The Queen last Autumn, include adult and children’s multimedia guides to support and interpret displays in the newly accessible areas of interest. The whole five areas on site can now be explored using the multi-media guide. This includes the National Horseracing Museum where visitors can explore the history, science and globalisation of the sport, the flagship yard for Retraining of Racehorses Charity where visitors are able to meet former racehorses and the Fred Packard Galleries of British Sporting Art which houses the finest collection of British Sporting Art.
Imagineear’s multimedia production includes a Newmarket oral history project called Palace House Voices, named after the original dwelling built by Charles II as his sporting palace in Newmarket. Palace House Voices features stable lads who worked under trainer Jack Jarvis in the 1950s.
‘Included in the admission price, the multimedia tours are a fantastic addition to the visitors’ experience,’ says Briony Jackson, the Centre’s Science, Learning and Participation Officer. ‘Imagineear were fantastic work with, and their creativity and experience made the development and production of the guide a thoroughly enjoyable experience.’
