Imagineear’s SafeSpace™ at the Emirates Stadium announced finalist for Coronavirus Innovation award
The 2020 Sports Business Awards finalists have been announced and include Imagineear for its SafeSpace™ social distancing solution now in use at Arsenal Football Club’s Emirates Stadium Tour. Three new special Covid-19 response categories were available to entrants this year to recognise the achievements of sports clubs, associations, businesses and organisations in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, and Imagineear is delighted to be shortlisted for the Coronavirus Innovation Award: Protection.
In July, longstanding Imagineear client Arsenal Football Club resumed its Emirates Stadium Tours with a new socially-distanced visitor experience. In addition to the introduction of a new one-way route through the stadium, to help regulate the number of people in an area at a given time, Arsenal decided to go further and was one of the first clients to use Imagineear’s SafeSpace™ – a proximity-based technology that ensures visitors remain at a safe distance from each other whilst onsite.

SafeSpace™ operates out of the box on Imagineear devices as a simple software upgrade. When a visitor’s, or family group’s space is compromised by another visitor, SafeSpace™ triggers an audio, haptic and/or visual alert on the user’s device, prompting them to keep a safe distance from each other. The tour continues to play and when the devices move apart the warning disappears.

The Sports Business Awards recognise the vital influence of business within sport and celebrate the hard work and successes of individuals and teams who make all sporting success possible.
