Multimedia Guide for Utrecht, Caravaggio and Europe Exhibition
At Utrecht’s Centraal Museum, the Rome of 1600-1630 is showcased through the art of Caravaggio and the Utrecht Caravagggists alongside the European counterparts, for the first time in The Netherlands, in an temporary exhibition entitled: ‘Utrecht, Caravaggio and Europe’with a self-guided multimedia tour designed, built and supplied by Imagineear on its own devices.
The period covered by the paintings was the start of the Dutch Golden Age, when Rome was considered the centre of the world, drawing young painters from The Netherlands and from across Europe.
In a rare occurrence, The Vatican has agreed to loan one of its most important pieces – Caravaggio’s masterpiece ‘The Entombment of Christ‘- to Centraal Museum Utrecht for the first four weeks of the exhibition. At the end of this period, another major Caravaggio work will be on display until the closing date on 24thMarch.
On the tour, the voice of the famous Dutch novelist Arthur Japin guides visitors in Dutch and in English around the 70 paintings. It is available to everyone coming to the exhibition on Imagineear’s own popular touch-screen MPti™device.
