RELAX Anaesthetics Short-listed for a Second Award

Consultant Anaesthetist, Dr Peter Brooks, has been short-listed for an Innovation Award by the AAGBI (The Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain & Ireland) for providing the inspiration for RELAX Anaesthetics, a tablet-based tool for distracting and calming children before anaesthesia. RELAX Anaesthetics was created by Imagineear working in partnership with CW+, the health charity of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

RELAX Anaesthetics is already an NHS Innovation Challenge 2015 Acorn Award winner for small ideas that make a big difference to young patients and staff.

Peter, a Paediatric Anaesthetist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, will make his presentation bid for the AAGBI Prize for Innovation in Anaesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain 2016 at the Association’s Winter Scientific Meeting in January.

“The interest from surgical units in trusts, hospitals as well as individual anaesthetists in acquiring RELAX Anaesthetics has built considerably throughout this year”, says Clare Cooper-Hammond, Managing Director of Imagineear. “We are delighted that Peter has been short-listed for this award and our fingers are crossed for him.”
