Royal Albert Hall partners with Imagineear to provide Multimedia GroupGuide™ venue tours

The Royal Albert Hall, London’s most iconic music venue and one of the UK’s most treasured and distinctive tourist attractions, has partnered with Imagineear to bring a multimedia group-guiding experience to its venue tours.  Visitors on a guided tour of the Hall will be provided with Imagineear’s innovative Multimedia GroupGuide™ technology, which allows the group leader’s live commentary to be interspersed with dynamic multimedia content, elevating the experience to a new level of multi-sensory interactivity.

Since the Hall’s opening by Queen Victoria in 1871, world-leading figures and artists from every genre have appeared on its stage, from Arctic Monkeys to Muhammad Ali, the BBC Proms to Beyoncé, Cirque du Soleil to Winston Churchill, and Albert Einstein to Ed Sheeran! Visitors on a tour of the venue will learn about the building’s history and the Royal love story behind it, get a glimpse of the  Royal areas of the Hall and, of course, soak up the atmosphere of the breathtaking auditorium.

The addition of the Multimedia GroupGuide™ will help bring the Hall’s stories to life through a range of engaging content that will add visual references to the guide’s commentary.  This will include chronological timelines and infographics, compelling timelapse and 360° videos, and galleries and slideshows, plus some of Imagineear’s latest innovative content features. The addition of this type of immersive multimedia delivers an unforgettable and multisensory visitor experience while preserving the personal touch of a group-led tour.

Anthony Winter-Brown, Director of Visitor Experience at the Royal Albert Hall, said: “We’re so excited to be adding another level to the tours experience through this partnership with Imagineear. Their groundbreaking technology will work in tandem with our incredible tour guides to evoke the history of this extraordinary place, bringing to life the world-changing events that have happened on our famous stage, and the remarkable stories behind them.”

“We are extremely proud to have been chosen by the Royal Albert Hall to add a new dynamic to group tours of this iconic, world-famous venue.” said Clare Cooper-Hammond, Managing Director UK at Imagineear.  “This is the first time our Multimedia GroupGuide™ will be used by visitors in a concert hall and events setting and we are excited to bring this new experience to the Royal Albert Hall’s visitors.”

Due to the global COVID pandemic, the Royal Albert Hall is currently closed to the public.  The board looks forward to bringing people together again for more shared experiences in early 2021 to celebrate the Hall’s 150th anniversary year, when it is hoped the new multimedia venue tours will be available.
