ABBA: Super Troupers The Exhibition opens with Imagineear guide

A new immersive exhibition dedicated to the Swedish pop super group ABBA has opened at the O2 in London, and all visitors to the highly anticipated ABBA: Super Troupers The Exhibition will be accompanied by an interactive self-guided multimedia tour produced by Imagineear.

ABBA’s stratospheric rise to fame began after their win at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with what would become their first UK hit “Waterloo”. The exhibition brings to life their music, lyrics, creative process and global influence, taking a behind-the-scenes look at one of the most iconic pop acts of the modern age.

The multimedia guide, narrated by TV and radio presenter Gemma Cairney, will help visitors and fans to delve deeper into the personal and public stories of band members Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid (“Frida”) Lyngstad, plus exclusively recorded interviews with Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.

The band’s epic journey is charted through a series of atmospheric rooms and experiential backdrops of key events and locations, exploring each of ABBA’s 8 multi-million selling albums, and will contain lyrics, costumes, instruments and other objects from ABBA The Museum in Stockholm, some of which will be on display in the UK for the first time.

Using Imagineear’s MPti™ touchscreen device, the multimedia guide’s bespoke interface has been tailored to match the exhibition branding and allows visitors to scroll through timelines of key events that happened in the year of each album release, telling a wider contextual story of 1970’s Britain. The guide also automatically synchronises to audiovisual display screens in each room showing footage of various performances, music videos and interviews.

“We are delighted to have been involved in the ABBA Super Troupers exhibition and are immensely proud of the multimedia guide we have produced and it was a privilege to record exclusive interviews with the band and those that lived the ABBA ‘dream’ alongside them.” said Iain George, Project Director UK & Ireland. “The multimedia guide really helps visitors understand the band’s journey, or you can just listen to every track from every album if you choose to – be aware this is over 4 hrs of ABBA – I’ve done it!”

The exhibition has opened to rave reviews, including the multimedia guide:
