Imagineear commissioned to provide inclusivity review services

The Imagineear team have proven expertise in creating rich, immersive inclusive digital experiences for a range of audiences within the cultural, heritage and sports sectors.

We have a thorough understanding of the relevant local legislation and international best practice standards (such as WCAG) and we partner with highly skilled specialist agencies to meet our clients’ inclusivity objectives, we create and lead focus groups to evaluate content and design development at key points throughout our project process.

We were recently commissioned by English Heritage to conduct a four-month Accessibility and Inclusion Development Review of our Stonehenge Audio Guide. The review had a remit to focus on exploring how the app, and its content, could be enhanced and expanded  to assist two identified audiences –  Blind and partially sighted visitors and Deaf and partially hearing visitors. We met with local groups who work with, and represent, the interests of the Blind and partially sighted community to begin the engagement process. Following a series of introductory meetings, Imagineear worked in partnership with the team at Stonehenge to run three onsite focus group sessions. Imagineear collaborated with a specialist agency to audit the content, functionality and design of our Stonehenge App for use by Deaf and partially hearing visitors.

Our highly-skilled graphic design team understand the importance of creating inclusive UX and UI designs and have an in-depth understanding of design best practice using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), as the guiding principles for design and presentation.

As part of our process, we analysed and audited our content, design and current UX styling and potential technical developments with a view to using smartphone accessibility features. Our review of the design and current UX styling of the app included using an online analyser application to evaluate the contrast ratio of each element of each page.

Imagineear looks forward to continuing working with English Heritage on the next phase of this important project and to applying our experience, key recommendations and principals to guide accessible and inclusive digital experiences across all our client sites.

We relish the opportunity to work with our partners to help them widen and deepen their connection with visitors through imaginative, creative and engaging experiences which are inclusive and intuitive.
