Imagineear partners with LabTech to create the Charlie the Horse history trail at Camden Market.

The iconic Camden Market in London has a rich industrial, cultural and socio-economic history spanning almost 200 years.

Full of vibrant and quirky independent retailers, a thriving food market and built on beautiful historic waterways, Camden has long been a much-loved tourist destination, famous throughout the world for its music scene.

Labtech, with Camden Market, wished to create a digital family tour which would showcase this rich history in a dynamic and engaging way and, following the success of their various walking tours, Imagineear were an obvious choice.

The Charlie the Horse history trail is a self-guided Imagineear Web App, which guides the listener around the entire Market site, drawing attention to the various points of historical significance and cultural interest.

The app, created to appeal to all ages with family content and games also included, is packed with beautifully designed graphic content, intuitive menus, navigational tools and video content including an incredible 360 video of Dead Dog’s Basin, an intriguingly named spot only accessible to visitors by boat.

Imagineear scripted and recorded the audio narration, music and sound effects and also worked with Historian, Peter Darley and Artists Ged Palmer and Julie-Ann Pugh to record additional interview content.

“We are hugely proud to have produced this web app for Camden Market”, said Clare Cooper-Hammond, MD Imagineear UK & Ireland. “This area of London is famous for so many reasons and the challenge of condensing 200 years of history into a family multimedia tour, was one we were happy to take on. Our expertise producing web apps for famous landmark sites, both indoor and outdoor, has resulted in 45 minutes of exciting and compelling content, perfectly complementing the dynamic vibrancy of this iconic London site.”

Maria Berger, Art and FF&E Director at Camden Market said, “We love the app, and hopefully it will shed light on Camden’s rich history and tell its many tales in an accessible way to local families!”.
