Imagineear’s content creation services and TourBuilder Plus™ web app solution chosen for prestigious King’s Cross development by Argent LLP

Once an underused industrial wasteland, King’s Cross is now one of the largest redevelopments in London.  The canal-side setting and rich history of this 67-acre site make for an exciting and unique visitor experience, with stories: past, present and future.  Stories that developers Argent LLP were keen to tell through the creation of an easily accessible mobile guide.

Argent LLP were looking for a mobile content solution which would promote the wealth of art, culture and history on offer in this new city quarter, and which would attract local and national interest.  Using the web app to encourage exploration of the King’s Cross neighbourhood will increase engagement, dwell-time and investment in and around the area.

The Imagineear team proposed an Imagineear Web App (IWA) as the ideal platform along with the creation of engaging, rich and colourful audio-visual content.  The IWA can be accessed directly by the visitors’ smartphone simply by scanning a QR code.  Content is presented via an intuitive map and menu highlighting 2,000 years of history and cultural features of interest and showcasing King’s Cross as one of London’s most exciting ‘must-see’ destinations.

Imagineear produced a creative and engaging script, brought to life by much-loved British actor Russell Tovey.  Having spent his teenage years exploring King’s Cross and now recording his podcast locally, Russell has a strong personal connection with the area and was the ideal choice.

Despite the many challenges faced due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most significantly the shift in target audience from international to national and the changes in client brief arising from this shift, Imagineear were able to plan, script, design and build an exciting and innovative Web App, meeting the client’s brief and to deadline.

“We are delighted to have worked with Argent LLP on this exciting regeneration project.  Reimagining the visitor experience at King’s Cross remotely during lockdown presented many challenges, which we are proud to have overcome” said Clare Cooper-Hammond, Managing Director at Imagineear Ltd.  “Our comprehensive and flexible TourBuilder Plus™ platform allowed full creative and operational flexibility.  Working with the Argent team to create a really great mobile experience has been thrilling and we can’t wait for visitors to engage with the content and spend time in such exciting part of London.”

Commenting on the new W1C tour, Russell Tovey said, “We’re all emerging from a pretty crazy, insular year but we’re so lucky to be in London at this time where there’s so much art and culture at our fingertips, and it’s the perfect way to reconnect with our great city. I think this summer is going to be all about rediscovery – of our city, our self, our friends and family, our passions. My advice, start with King’s Cross as it’s a real gem and there’s so much to see, learn and discover – and you only need 45 minutes for my jam packed Art & Culture Tour.”
