Lucas Gassel exhibition reopens at Museum Helmond with Imagineear’s MPi™ devices

Visitors to the Lucas Gassel: Master of Landscapes exhibition at Museum Helmond, in the south-east of The Netherlands, will be accompanied by a multimedia tour on Imagineear’s popular and easy-to-use MPi™ devices. Following its closure in early March soon after opening, due to the Coronavirus, the exhibition can now be seen on display until 30th August at the museum’s art gallery, one of its two locations along with the medieval castle in the town of Brabant.

Lucas Gassel of Helmond was a master in depicting landscapes in the 16th century. This first major retrospective of his work consists mainly of oil paintings on panel showing distant landscapes, often with prominent episodes from the Bible depicted in the foreground, such as The Flight to Egypt, or figures from classical mythology such as Pyramus and Thisbe. Gassel belongs to a select group of only a handful of known, early practitioners of the landscape genre in the Netherlands.

Imagineear’s design and development team helped the museum to create the guide using TourBuilder™, Imagineear’s in-house content management system that creates bespoke tours perfectly tailored to suit the audience.

“Imagineear stepped in at a late stage and helped us out when previously selected devices turned out not to be what we were looking for. The MPi™ devices are handy, easy to use for visitors, a good size and the quality of the audio and visuals is great. A top product!” said Annette Wilde, Education Coordinator at Museum Helmond. “Imagineear built the tours and went the extra mile to improve the production, give feedback on the already produced audio content and even helped to enhance the visuals. This resulted in a rich tour that we, the museum, as well as our visitors, are very happy with.”

One happy visitor commented: “I hardly ever listen to every bit of an audio tour but I did this time, from start to end! Captivating information and interesting details, the texts were the right length, with a nice voice and clear images on the audio devices. A tremendous added value to the remarkable artworks by Lucas Gassel!”

During the lock-down and prior to reopening the exhibition, Imagineear provided help, support and solutions to safely use the equipment via its Covid-19 safeguarding support package, designed to help clients adhere to strict new guidelines around social distancing and hygiene in public spaces. Visitor confidence is growing as the museum has already ordered more devices due to the high demand for the tour, which is good news for cultural attractions as they begin to adapt to new ways of operating.

The exhibition is open until 30th August at the Museum Helmond’s art gallery in Brabant, Netherlands.
