New Accessible Tours for Dulwich Picture Gallery

The creation of an audio descriptive (AD) and a British Sign Language (BSL) by Imagineear for Dulwich Picture Gallery’s new temporary exhibition will allow those with visual and hearing impairments to enjoy the work of renowned Norwegian artist Harald Sohlberg.  These accessible tours have been designed for the Gallery together with a general audio tour of Harald Sohlberg’s art.

Making highlights of the permanent collection more assessible was also an aim for the Gallery,  so Imagineear was also asked to produce AD and BSL content for ten of its most famous pictures. Imagineear also scripted the specialist AD content for these artworks.

Both AD tours include a choice of font size and background colour.

All the tours of Harald Sohlberg’s highly original landscapes are introduced by the Dulwich Picture Gallery’s Sackler Director, Jenny Scott while the main tour and BSL version include a Q&A style interview on the artist and his work with answers given by curator, Kathleen Soriano who made a special trip to Norway to experience first-hand the effect of the light and specific scenery that where the subjects of Sohlberg’s work.

The content for all these tours are provided on Imagineear’s own MPti™ touch screen device.

Harald Sohlberg: Painting Norway exhibition runs until  2 June.
