Tove Jansson Exhibition Opens with Imagineear

The first UK retrospective on the career of Tove Jansson this winter is supported by a multimedia guide created by Imagineear.  The exhibition of her work, and key stages of her life and career opened at the Dulwich Picture Gallery on 25th October.

The breadth of Jansson’s work is not well known outside her native Finland.  World-famous as the creator of the Moomin characters and books, Tove Jansson was nevertheless talented as a graphic illustrator, painter, cartoonist and novelist, and courageous as satirist.  The exhibition includes self-portraits and paintings never seen before in the UK to introduce her passion for creating and exhibiting fine art works alongside her career in graphic illustration.

“Visitors may be drawn to Dulwich by their interest in the Moomins, of which there is plentiful content plus supporting family activities and talks around the show, but they will come away with a memory of Tove Jansson’s wider abilities beyond the Moomin characters,” says Iain George, Imagineear’s Project Director for UK & Ireland. “This rich seam of talent is showcased in our multimedia guide which offers an added depth of interpretation to the exhibition.”

Imagineear scripted, recorded and edited the guide using an actor’s voice throughout and to provide character cameos. Image research and film editing were part of the service.

The guide is hosted on Imagineear’s MPti™ devices with 5” touch screens. The same devices are used by visitors for the refreshed guide to the permanent collection, which has been updated by Imagineear.

Tove Jansson (2014-2001) runs at the Dulwich Picture Gallery until 28th January 2017.
