Imagineear partners with The Wallace Collection to honour man’s best friend

Following highly successful collaborations for their previous exhibitions, Forgotten Masters: Indian Painting for the East India Company; Frans Hals: The Male Portrait and Inspiring Disney: The Animation of French Decorative Arts, Imagineear and The Wallace Collection have come together for a fourth time for Portraits of Dogs: From Gainsborough to Hockney.

Exploring the unique relationship that people have enjoyed with their faithful and fearless canines throughout the centuries, the exhibition features carefully selected paintings, sculptures, drawings and even taxidermy.

Enhancing the exhibition, visitors can choose between two Imagineear digital guides as part of their admission to the exhibition, an adult tour and a family guide. Delivered on Imagineear’s MPi™ device, the adult audio guide features interviews with various experts and Director of the Wallace Collection, Xavier Bray.

The Imagineear edited audio content is perfectly complemented by beautifully designed graphics that boast a vibrant colour palette and feature the various works of art on display.

The family guide features the voices and thoughts of Young Curators – pupils from a local primary school – as they discuss a selection of the pieces in the exhibit.

In addition to this charming commentary, Imagineear produced various games and activities to engage and excite younger visitors: Drawing activities, quiz questions, a rub to reveal feature, spot the difference game and a soundscape mixer are just some of the functions that Imagineear used to bring to life the portraits in the eyes of children.

“It was an absolute pleasure working with Imagineear to create audio guides for our exhibition, Portraits of Dogs: From Gainsborough to Hockney. We are delighted with the results,” said Alexander Collins, Assistant Curator for Portraits of Dogs: From Gainsborough to Hockney. “In a guide designed for adults, they skilfully wove together multiple narratives from special guests that offer exclusive insights into the show. Imagineear also worked creatively to realise a unique project to develop a guide for families with children from the Wallace Collection’s local primary school. Using the children’s concepts and commentaries, they produced an exceptional interactive experience. We are sure both guides will be a great success with our visitors.”

“Portraits of Dogs is a beautiful jewel of an exhibition and a good reflection of the wonderful team at the Wallace Collection that has brought it together,” said Raffaele Flacco, Project Manager at Imagineear. “Working in partnership with them on this project has been an absolute pleasure from start to finish.”
