Imagineear sparks curiosity and inspires moments of reflection with their new children’s tour at the Museum and Crypt of the Capuchin Friars, Rome

Imagineear have launched a new and exciting Interactive Tour, designed for children aged 5 to 11, in 2 languages – Italian and English – at the Museum and Crypt of the Capuchin Friars in Rome.

The result of successful collaboration between Imagineear’s Italian team and the Museum, the tour engages both the cognitive and emotional faculties of younger audiences and is a subtle balance of narrative, design, immersion and interaction. Drawing on our proven expertise in site-specific storytelling and immersive sound design, we partnered with the Museum to create an animated journey of sound, discovery and reflection, delivered on our XP3™ device.

A highlight of the tour is narration by Fra Luca, a respected authority among the friars of the Order. With his vast knowledge of the history of the Capuchin Friars, he accompanies visitors in discovering his home, the many stories that the museum hides and guides children through an exhilarating clue hunt!

The tour also features the voice of two more characters: Chiara, a young visitor who, through her curiosity and inquisitive nature, provides opportunities for learning outcomes along the way and her grandmother, a reassuring and authoritative figure.

The children are given a bespoke map, created in partnership with a talented illustrator, at the start of their visit and along the way are challenged to complete a series of games and objectives. Throughout the visit, children can also leave messages, drawings and share their ideas with Museum staff, allowing for continued communication post-visit.

“We wanted our visitors to feel they were in the safe hands of Fra Luca, but also to produce a more contemporary and experimental way of engaging with the spirit of the Order, the artworks, objects and spaces in the Museum,” said the Manager of Visitor Experience at the Museum.

“The visitor experience means everything to us,” said Imagineear’s Beatrice Creazzola. “Continuing our partnership with the Museo e Cripta dei Frati Cappuccini has been a great opportunity to show what we can achieve at a small but amazing and well-organized site, with the support of a really great operations team.  Our goal was to encourage children to focus on their experience, engaging them in activities, inviting them to collaborate creatively throughout the visit. We look forward to hearing what our little visitors think!”.
