English Heritage appoints Imagineear as its handheld device provider – Imagineear to provide over 3,000 devices across 35 sites

Following an extensive tender and procurement process, Imagineear was awarded a significant audio and multimedia guide contract by the renowned nation-wide organisation, English Heritage.  English Heritage cares for over 400 historic buildings, monuments and sites, from world-famous prehistoric sites to grand medieval castles, and from Roman forts on the edges of the empire to a Cold War bunker.  English Heritage brings the story of England to life for over 10 million people each year.

The English Heritage team was seeking a partner for 35 of their sites who offered strong creative skills, backed with a portfolio of robust, reliable and intuitive hardware.  English Heritage will now be offering over 3,000 of Imagineear’s XP3™and MPi™ devices to their visitors.

With iconic visitor attractions including Whitby Abbey, Portchester Castle, Eltham Palace and Scarborough Castle amongst those offering Imagineear guides, it is important that the presentation of the content, as well as the hardware, synonymous with Imagineear, met the high standard set by English Heritage.

Imagineear’s design team is redesigning all existing content and bringing a fresh and updated look to the audio and multimedia guide interfaces while remaining faithful to the English Heritage brand and values.  Imagineear will also be offering English Heritage valuable insights into visitor behaviour by capturing and collating visitor data analytics, and thus allowing for better planning and understanding of the visitor experience at each site.

English Heritage will also benefit from Imagineear’s dedicated technical support teams, ensuring that operations run smoothly and reliably at their sites around the country.

The award was of particular importance to Clare Cooper-Hammond, Imagineear Managing Director: “We are all utterly thrilled to be trusted with this large and important project by the English Heritage team. This is a huge undertaking, using our blend of content curation and design skills complemented by a robust operational focus, and follows consultancy, content production and app development work at Stonehenge.  It is a testament to our commitment to support heritage sites to tell their stories, and I personally couldn’t be happier; many English Heritage locations have a very important place in my heart, places I go time and time again to connect with history, listen to stories of people and places.”
